Good or Bad

In this modern era, who doesn’t like to play games? Whether it's on a PC, smartphone, console, tablet or mobile phone.People of all ages enjoy them. I’ve even seen my parents play games like “Snake” which was a sensation for the 90’s kids and “Sudoku” . Nowadays even little children are seen to be playing games. Thus the question rises “Are games harmful?” or “Are there any good sides of playing these games?”

First of all, most people think that playing computer games is harmful and they always keep their children away from playing games. I’m not gonna argue with the harmful sides of playing games. They are bad for our eyes if the brightness is not properly adjusted or Blue Light Filter is not enabled.

One more bad effect of playing games is it’s addictive and it can take hours and hours of time. That sometimes becomes a reason behind one’s poor grades. Gamers also tend to stay at home all day playing games and they avoid playing outdoor games like Football or Cricket. These games are often graphic and if played by someone who’s underage can disturb the natural growth of one’s brain and cause permanent damage.

These are some of the bad effects of playing games .Now, I’m gonna tell you the benefits and then you can decide for yourself if they’re good or bad.

Computer games teach young kids a lot of things. They start trying to make sense of everything they see from an early age which makes them more creative .That’s how they improve one’s vision and brain training capabilities.

Various types of games have various good sides. So,it all comes down to what type of games one’s playing.Playing word games like Sukoku and Word games tend to train one’s brain to solve problems.Playing puzzle games also have the same benefits.

Games that require alertness and instant reaction work on one’s muscle memory and reaction time.It also increases one’s reflex which is very necessary for one’s day to day life. These skills come very handy when doing daily stuff like playing sports ,catching something from falling and driving.

Gamers tend to be more reactive in some extreme situations .Just a millisecond of less reaction time can be a matter of life and death. For example: A Study showed that video games improve driving and motor skills by increasing reaction time and reflex.

Gaming also increases one’s motor skills and hand-eye-coordination.Thus,people who have played games in their early ages tend to be better pilots and drivers than the people who haven’t.

Another good effect of gaming is it makes people more creative and social.Past research found that people who played games developed better social skills and performed better academically.

Thus ,it needs no telling that games have good effects. But are these good sides enough to make the bad sides seem small? I’ll say yes.I think every single thing on earth has its good sides and bad sides. For example: drinking water is good for you but too much water can kill you. So, it all comes down to the amount .

If games are played with proper caution and moderately the drawbacks of these games can easily be avoided. The main purpose of this blog is to spread awareness.I hope this blog clears some of the misconceptions people had regarding this topic.Thank you for reading my blog.
