What is 5G?

5G stands for Fifth generation. After 1G,2G,3G,4G we were introduced to 5G.It is basically 5th generation of network.5G gives low latency, more speed, more reliability, massive network capacity and more availability and a more uniform performance to cherish one’s technology experience much more cleaner.5G was basically built for downloading a movie in seconds and controlling a robot from one side of the world to another. It is a mind blowing technology with a lot of promises and bold claims.

Who invented 5G?

There is no particular person or company that owns the 5G technology but there are a lot of contributors in this sector.3GPP is driving many essential inventions across all aspects of 5G design.3GPP refers to the 3rd generation Partnership Project.3GPP went to the labs and worked on standards to improve the existing LTE (4G). 3GPP is an association of 7 regional organizations, from China to the US, and numerous companies and organizations join through these regional partners. ETSI, the European member, has 800 member companies and institutions alone.

Benefits of 5G:

As we all now rely on internet,we specially seek to remain connected with internet maintaining a lot of speed and bandwidth connections. So here comes the 5g connection with a lot of low latency,GBPS speed and less traffic on the internet.5g speed can peak from 1000 Mbps to 2.1 Gbps. As an example, we can say that by using 5g speed we can download a 4k video in some seconds. Even low band 5g connections have speeds like 30 to 250 Mbps and mid band have 100 to 900 Mbps.

 So, the benefits are:

  • High bandwidth

  • Use of high bandwidth

  • Enhanced broadband

  • Hd streaming,4k videos, and robot controlling takes less time now.

  • 5g can be used to control specific devices over a range.

(5G technology can be used for robotics)

Why 4G connection is much more preferable now?

It would be a shock to hear that 5g technology is not up to the mark as it was promised to be.As 4g technology has wider mm waves and peak speed of 100 Mbps but it has a wider range which gives it much more flexibility and reliability to use.

5g uses orthogonal frequency division multiplexing encoding, similar to 4g LTE.4G, uses 20 Mhz channels ,bounded together at 160 MHz. But , do you really need this chunk of speed for your use?For me, the answer is still no. Just look at real life examples, you can use 4g anywhere in the country but 5g is a very conservative network to use. Nonetheless, the 4g network offers much more comfort and reliability over 5g because of its coverage.5g network doesn't cover like 4g so rest of its features remain useless.

Why is 5G not up to mark?
Now let's discuss why 5g speed is not up to mark?

•Marketing: 5G was not marketed to us as we needed it. Like if you look at 2G,3G,4G all of these were a leap from each other but for 5G it isn't a required thing for everyone.5G was ambitious about its claim without even delivering it.But eventually, they failed to get people excited.

• Cost: To use 5G network you have to pay much more than any other network. It's like 50% more than previous generation.Even in the USA, where the 5G users are the most they've to pay a lot to avail it.

• Reliable connection: If you ask most of the 4g users, what they needs the most?they would say that more reliable connection. But when we use 5G most of the time we're getting medium to slow connection. Only 0.5% of the time we're getting an abnormal fast connection. It tells us that the speed is not reliable.Companies are claiming that there are several ambitious cases to use 5G but they're disconnected from reality.

• Fake expectations: 5G companies always offer bigger things but they can't even implement it in real life. Doctors can treat their patients from remote places, you can control machines from other places of the world. These all were the bold claims which never actually happened.

• Range: 5G uses so small mm waves that can barely travel that they can be blocked by anything.Like, if you move a little from a 5G tower from getting 2gbps speed you can fall down to 2 Mbps.So.it's actually is expensive and you have to set beacon on every street corner to use 5G properly.

• Development: 5G technology lacks development from every aspect. The companies are not fixing the network issue, limited range, beacon availability etc. Metaverse highly depends on 5G but its lack of development makes the project much more lengthy , time consuming and downwards. As a result, they are losing millions of dollars.

To sum up, we can say that ,5G technology requires the attention of its developers and to fix these technology issues the big technology companies should come forward and work together to make the internet much faster and lower latency than ever.
